After months of patient research, the teaching case “Volkswagen über alles” on the Dieselgate scandal, developed by the Baillet Latour Chair on Error Management at Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management is now available. The clearing house The Case Centre has registered it with the 318-0046-1 and you may find it here with its teaching note.
In 3 parts, the case recounts how the whole affair unfolded over almost 10 years. It is written in the perspective of top executives, Chairman Ferdinand Piëch and CEO Martin Winterkorn. It offers a perspective on strategic choices, errors at various levels of Volkswagen, and how those errors were managed.
We encourage teachers to use this as a material for Masters and MBA classes, as well as executive education programs especially for senior managers from industrial sectors.
